The Horacee Arnold Quartet with Buster Williams, Marcus Strickland and Vic Juris Live at William Patterson University See the new videos for Reflections on Max, Banyan Dance, Dance of the Infidels and Nubian Spinner. |
I come from a long line of jazz drummers in the tradition of Big Sid Catlett, Papa Joe Jones, and my teacher and mentor, Max Roach. Music has always provided a portal that connects us to an expressive world that offers a variety of emotional, intellectual, and spiritual possibilities. Accessing this world has always been the work of the artist, and in many cases, this is a lifework. From a sense of balance, proportion and design to the texture of African, eastern, and Tibetan rhythms that Horacee Arnold absorbed during his early global tours, springs a highly personal statement, reflective of his past and his vision of the future. Listeners of the new Horacee Arnold will recognize the sum of influences that has shaped the style of the drummer/composer who has been described as a "uniquely elegant performer with a happy and translucent sound".
